What is the St. Mary Art Walk?
It’s like enjoying an art walk in a gallery or museum, without any pressure to buy anything. The Art Walk is designed for “Enriching Faith Through Art.”
You’ll be viewing prints of great works of art from all over the world and from about hundreds of years of history (Van Gogh, Rembrandt, Rubens, Caravaggio, Duccio, Tissot, and dozens more).
How can we afford to display
all these works of art?
They are all in the public domain! We have made in-house prints of many, and we will display some with projectors so you will enjoy them larger-than-lifesize!
What can I expect at the Art Walk?
You will be led through a path of beautifully displayed art—many will have helpful explanations of the artist and his/her work, or will tell the story that inspired the work of art. You are welcome to take home a booklet describing the works of art you viewed.
You will be offered delicious mocktails and appetizers.
You will enjoy an atmosphere of hospitality, fellowship and serenity.
Your kids are invited to the “Future Catholic Artists” table where they can create their own works of art inspired by what they have seen. They can also complete an “I Spy” game for a fun prize.
How much will it cost?
We are offering the Art Walk free of charge as a blessing to our parish community and wider neighborhood. If you would like to donate to help fund future Art Walks, we will have donations boxes at the Entrance and Exit doors.
When are the Art Walks for this year?
October 27: Animals in Sacred Art
December 15: Christmas Through the Ages and Around the World.
February 16: The Paschal Mystery
May 9: Portraits of Our Mother (Friday Evening Soiree)
Could I help as a volunteer?
Absolutely! You are encouraged to reach out and offer an hour or more of your time! To learn more or to volunteer at an Art Walk, please contact Sara Broderius ([email protected]) or Marie Bricher ([email protected]).
We would love to have you join the fun of planning and putting on an Art Walk! We also appreciate donations of artwork or money for Art Walk expenses.
